NYS SPRING FOOTBALL ACTIONI covered another four games today with the NYS at Ed Fountain Park. The BG Gators were in action against the LV Cowboys, except for the Middle School division. The Gators played Team Classic in the Middle School division. By far the the best game of the day (and one of the best games I have seen in a long time) was the minor division game. The LV Cowboys won it 41-39 on a long pass play to score with no time left on the clock. The Gators had just scored and went ahead on a long pass play about a minute before that. WEEKDAY GAMEI don't normally get to cover a youth football game during the week.....except for this week. The NYS has a few scheduled this season during the week. Tonight was in the Pee Wee division and featured the Fury and Skyhawks. I don't normally keep up with the score but I know the Skyhawks came out on top. The little guys were doing some good hitting on both teams.
TRACK AND FIELD @ ARBOR VIEWGood meet tonight at Arbor View vs. Spring Valley. Something I found out is that I need to watch my positioning on the pole vault....next meet I may neeed to shoot from both sides of the pit to get the face while they are going over the crossbar. I also tried something different and shot at the starting line of the sprints, some of those came out good. I like these duel meets because they provide a chance to experiment a little bit.
SPRING FOOTBALL IS HEREIt was opening day for the NYS Spring Football Season.....thanks to the Henderson Cowboys for the invite out to their openers. All their teams were impressive, looks like they haven't missed a beat from last season. The Venom were in action against them in all the games. The Venom displayed some new uniforms for this year. The pictures came out great. Something about that green artificial surface that makes them look much better. And I can't forget the Pee Wee Bears that were in action as well.
HIGH SCHOOL TRACK 2013Glad the spring time is back and so is the spring sports. What a way to start it off than with a track meet. This one was at Palo Verde and it was dual meet vs Arbor View. First meet of the season for a lot of them...and there were a few girls that were on the flag football team. Had a good chance to get some timing down and re-think some shooting positions for different events. I didn't get too many of the field events, mostly running. I will hit the field events at the next meet.
